Customs and Duty Free: Brazil

When entering Brazil, passengers are allowed to bring a variety of personal and commercial goods, but there are specific limits. Travelers can bring in personal items like clothing and books without needing to declare them. For other goods, there is a limit of up to USD 500 in total value for air travelers. For alcohol, the limit is 12 liters, and you are allowed up to 400 cigarettes or 25 cigars. For currency, while there’s no limit on the amount you can bring, any amount exceeding BRL 10,000 (or its equivalent in foreign currency) must be declared.

Customs also restricts certain items. Firearms, narcotics, and certain medications require special permission. Food products, especially fresh fruits, vegetables, and meat, are generally not allowed without proper inspection or permits. If you are carrying any items requiring declaration or exceeding the allowed limits, you must go through the "Goods to Declare" customs line and complete the necessary forms
