Don't forget!

For a long-haul flight, it's important to pack items in your hand luggage that can help make the journey more comfortable and enjoyable. Here are some essential items to consider:

  • Travel Documents: Passport, visa (if required), boarding pass, and any other necessary documents should be easily accessible.
  • Medications: Any prescription medications (with prescription) as well as over-the-counter medications needed for the flight for common issues like headaches or motion sickness.
  • Comfort Items: Neck pillow, eye mask, earplugs, and a light jacket or shawl for added comfort during the flight.
  • Entertainment: Books, magazines, or an e-reader, along with headphones or earbuds to enjoy personal devices.
  • Electronic Devices: Phone, tablet, or laptop, along with chargers and adapters to keep them powered throughout the flight.
  • Toiletries: Toothbrush, toothpaste, and other essential toiletries to freshen up during the flight.
  • Snacks: Healthy snacks to keep hunger at bay, as well as a refillable water bottle to stay hydrated.
  • Change of Clothes: A spare set of clothes in case of spills or for a fresh change before landing.
  • Important Items: Wallet, jewellery, and any other valuables should be kept in your hand luggage.
  • Travel Comforts: Compression socks to improve circulation, moisturiser to prevent skin dryness, and lip balm to stay hydrated.
  • Documents: Keep copies of important travel documents, such as travel insurance, emergency contact information, hotel reservations and the itinerary on your phone.

Chargers and Adaptors

For Finland there are two associated plug types C and F. Finland operates on a 230V supply voltage and 50Hz.

Plug type C is the plug which has two round pins plug types and F is the plug which has two round pins with two earth clips on the side.

If you have an item (e.g. laptop) with a South African 3-prong plug, you will have to buy an adaptor from a 3-prong to a 2-prong.
