Don't forget!
For a long-haul flight, it's important to pack items in your hand luggage that can help make the journey more comfortable and enjoyable. Here are some essential items to consider:
- Travel Documents: Passport, visa (if required), boarding pass, and any other necessary documents should be easily accessible.
- Medications: Any prescription medications (with prescription) as well as over-the-counter medications needed for the flight for common issues like headaches or motion sickness.
- Comfort Items: Neck pillow, eye mask, earplugs, and a light jacket or shawl for added comfort during the flight.
- Entertainment: Books, magazines, or an e-reader, along with headphones or earbuds to enjoy personal devices.
- Electronic Devices: Phone, tablet, or laptop, along with chargers and adapters to keep them powered throughout the flight.
- Toiletries: Toothbrush, toothpaste, and other essential toiletries to freshen up during the flight.
- Snacks: Healthy snacks to keep hunger at bay, as well as a refillable water bottle to stay hydrated.
- Change of Clothes: A spare set of clothes in case of spills or for a fresh change before landing.
- Important Items: Wallet, jewellery, and any other valuables should be kept in your hand luggage.
- Travel Comforts: Compression socks to improve circulation, moisturiser to prevent skin dryness, and lip balm to stay hydrated.
- Documents: Keep copies of important travel documents, such as travel insurance, emergency contact information, hotel reservations and the itinerary on your phone.
- Personal Items: Sunglasses, travel-sized hand sanitiser, and tissues for personal hygiene.
Planning my outfits
Dress Code for Day – Casual / Informal
Dress Code for the Evening – Smart Casual (no shorts, T shirts and flip flops)
Pack some warm clothes for the cooler days / evenings.
Smart casual: Important to remember that when dressing for a smart casual event, the emphasis is on “smart” and not on “casual".
Chargers and Adaptors
For Türkiye there are two associated plug types C and F. Turkey operates on a 220V supply voltage and 50Hz.
Plug type C is the plug which has two round pins plug types and F is the plug which has two round pins with two earth clips on the side.
If you have an item (e.g. laptop) with a South African 3-prong plug, you will have to buy an adaptor from a 3-prong to a 2-prong.
